The city of Faro is the capital of the District of Faro. It is the most important in the Algarve, as well as the most well known. Faro is a city in which we´ll find amongst other things the International Airport of this city.

Faro has incredible beaches and a population of 60,000 inhabitants. It´s cathedral, the door of the Fortress, it´s churches, quarters etc., are definately worth seeing. Amongst them we must mention Estoi, Montenegro, and Saint Peter of Faro. Faro is a well known tourist city due to it´s golden sand beaches and many monuments, it´s gastronomy and it´s famous prized posession...the tuna.

Next to this city we find the Ria Formosa Lagoon, a natural reserve that measures 170 squared kilometers, a perfect location for those who enjoy bird watching.
