The District of Faro has more than 500 kms of beaches, it´s great majority have a great ecological value, and are of an extreme beauty. Golden sands, cyrstal clear waters, moderate to strong waves, wind, untouched virgin beaches, beaches offering all types of services to the tourists, nudist beaches, isolated, urban, highly visited and less visited...an endless list of choices. Each one them have a common denominator...you will enjoy and have fun in any of them while on holidays in Faro. There are numerous municipalities that have beaches, but if there is one that stands out for having everything it´s the Island of Tavira, a beach surrounded by nature, nudist beaches, a section to enjoy aquatic sports, and areas where you´ll find beach bars where you can get a drink or a bite to eat while sunbathing. This beach is located not more than 3 minutes away by boat from Tavira. You can take a water taxi to get you to and from there.
If we visit Albufeira we must mention the Galé beach, a beach surrounded by the beach promenade and also has many beach bars and restaurants next to it. It is a very frequented beach, very similar to the beaches in Vilamoura.
In Alvor beach in Portimao, there is a section especially for aquatic sports such as windsurf, surf, kitesurf and other sports like scubadiving. You can also enjoy these sports in Lagoa in beaches like Praia de Marinha, one of the most beautiful in all of Portugal.
Of the beaches with natural surroundings we must mention Monte Gordo beach, surrounded by golden sands, dunes, crystal clear waters...meanwhile there is also Vilamoura with it´s marina which is found on the opposite side, beaches which offer numerous types of services and equipment. |
