Tavira is a municipality with a population of 18,000. It belongs to the district of Faro in the portuguese Algarve. It is a municipality that neighbors Vila Real de Santo Antonio, meaning it is very close to the border of Spain. It is also very close to Monte Gorde, Vilamoura and Loulé.

Tavira is divided in various towns, it is a municipality with an important heritage of beautiful beaches, places to go, monuments to see, restaurants, and of course a large amount of accomodations to enjoy all of this in. There are many apartments, hotels, hostels, houses, chalets, and rural homes to chose from while on holiday in the Algarve.

From it´s many towns we must mention the Island of Tavira, a small island to which you can only access by boat. It has a nudist area as well. In Tavira you will be able to enjoy all types of sports such as surf, golf, windsurf and kitesurf.

From Tavira we must also not fail to mention it´s traditional gastronomy. It mainly consists of stews, fish, soups and local products.
